Under 14's Tour - Cornwall - 2000

Welland Under 14's travelled to Mullion in Cornwall for their first ever tour. The tour was organised by R&T Tours with teams from as far a field as Glasgow and Sheffield.

A party of 16 players and nine adults made the best of the atrocious weather. Matches were played in Mullion and overlooking the Lighthouse at the Lizard. Unfortunately, 2 matches had to be cancelled due to the state of the pitches as a result of the heavy rain. Welland finished mid table with excellent performances by all the boys. The league based format, playing against teams from large cities, stretched the Welland team but they performed with credit in all their matches. Being awarded the 'Best Sporting Team' trophy reflected their excellent sportsmanship. This was presented by Peter Shilton at the Presentation Evening continuing the fine tradition of Welland FC.

With approximately 1500, boys covering ages from 10 to 16 the boys can be congratulated on both there on and off pitch behaviour. Team Managers would like to thank all the sponsors and all that travelled with the team. Without them, the trip would not have been possible.

The boys would like to go again next year! Sponsors and helpers needed already.
