Welland Juniors brought honour to the Mercian Boys League with the next season due to start next weekend. Their Under-15 team have been selected as winners of the Fair Play Award by the Worcestershire Football Association. The scheme was introduced by the Football Association to cover all sections of football from the Premier Division right down to Junior Level. It embraced all levels of the game with teams to show understanding of the game and to behave in a sporting manner.

Welland were nominated at Under-18 and below. In presenting the award of a new set of jerseys to Welland, Ron Lewis, Chairman of the WFA Youth Section, paid tribute to the leaders of the junior teams.

The presentation tool place at the monthly meeting of the Mercian Boys League, who were privileged to have five officials from the Worcestershire FA present.

Welland Juniors brought honours to the Mercian Boys Football League and to their club when they were awarded the FAIR PLAY AWARD by Ron Lewis Chairman of the WFA Youth Section. Welland were nominated at under 18 and below to represent the Mercian Boys League.

The fair play award initiatives has been introduced by the Football Association to cover all sections of Football from the Premier League back to the roots at Junior Level.

'Fair Play' embraces all levels of the game with the team needing to demonstrate their understanding of the game, respect for officials and opponents both on and off the field and to behave in a sporting manner.

The presentation took place at the Bell Inn in Worcester where Nick Stovold and Ross Robertson (players) received a new kit (England's colours) on behalf of Welland Juniors Under 15's. Also present from the Worcester F.A. were Ken Clifford (Chairman), Roy Northall (Vice Chairman), Mervyn Leggett (Secretary), Mike Thompson (Treasurer), Oliver Poole (President of Mercian Boys League) and George Silverman (Chairman of Mercian Boys League).
